About the game
Words from a Word is a free online word game with 30 levels: take the letters of one long word and make as many new words as you can, right in your browser with no sign-up. It starts small with GARDEN and works up through COMPUTER, TELEPHONE and ARCHITECT to the ten-letter STRAWBERRY. You spell words by tapping tiles, each letter can be used once, and any word of three or more letters from the game's dictionary counts.
Each level gives you three minutes. Longer words score more, and your stars depend on how many words you find, with the three-star target shown while you play. Reach at least one star and the next level unlocks. Hints, tile shuffling, three visual themes and a Russian version with its own dictionary are included, and your level and best score are saved.
How to play:
Tap the letter tiles in order to spell a word of three or more letters, then press Submit. Each tile can be used once; a wrong or repeated word simply bounces back with no penalty. A three-letter word scores 10 points and each extra letter adds 5. Erase removes the last letter, Shuffle reorders the tiles, and Hint shows the first letter and length of a word you haven't found. Each level lasts three minutes; the top line shows how many words are hidden and how many you need for three stars. Earn at least one star to pass the level, otherwise play it again.
Phone: tap the tiles and buttons; tapping the word row erases the last letter.
Desktop: mouse or keyboard — letter keys spell the word, Enter submits, Backspace erases, Space shuffles, Esc pauses.

How to play
Words from a Word hands you one long word and asks you to build as many shorter ones as you can out of its letters. The letters sit at the bottom as tiles: tap them in order to spell a word of three or more letters, then submit it. Each tile works only once, so GARDEN gives you RANGE and DANGER but not ERRAND — there is just one R to go around. Only words in the game's curated dictionary count, and a wrong guess or a repeat simply bounces back with no penalty.
Every level runs for three minutes. A three-letter word is worth 10 points and each extra letter adds 5 more. The line at the top tells you how many words are hidden and how many you need for three stars. End the clock with at least one star and the next level opens with a longer word, from GARDEN all the way up to STRAWBERRY; end with none and you play it again. Progress is saved, so you can pick up right where you left off.
Controls

Tips
- Look for words already sitting inside the starting word first: CHAMPION hides CHAMP, STRAWBERRY hides STRAW and BERRY. That is quick points before the real hunt begins.
- Work outward from every word you find: swap letters around or drop one. Found RANGE? Try ANGER. Found STRAW? Check WATER and TRAY.
- Longer words pay better: a six-letter word scores 25, the same as two and a half three-letter ones.
- You don't need the whole list. About 40% of a level's words earns three stars, and the exact target is shown next to the star in the top line.
- Stuck? Hit Shuffle — a fresh tile order often reveals a combination you kept missing.
- A hint shows the first letter and length of a random word you haven't found. You get three per level, so save them for when your own ideas run dry.
- Guess freely: a wrong word costs you nothing but a couple of seconds.
