About the game
Backgammon & Nardy puts two classic dice games on one board: bring 15 checkers home and bear them off first. Choose Short (backgammon) or Long nardy, vs the computer or two players on one device.
Short is classic backgammon with hitting: a lone checker can be hit and sent to the bar; mars and kox score extra. Long nardy has no hitting: every checker starts on the head, only one may leave it per turn (except a first-roll double 6-6, 4-4 or 3-3), and you cannot build six points in a row unless an enemy checker is ahead.
Legal moves are highlighted, and Hint and Undo help in tough spots.
Tips:
1. In long nardy, do not empty the head too fast.
2. Build chains of points to block your rival.
3. In backgammon, avoid leaving single checkers.
4. Doubles give four moves — prepare points in advance.
FAQ:
— Can I play backgammon against the computer? Yes, choose vs Computer.
— Is it free? Yes, with no sign-up.
— Does it work on a phone? Yes, tap to move.
How to play:
Choose Long or Short and an opponent — vs Computer or 2 players — press Play and roll the dice. Tap one of your checkers to highlight where it can go, then tap a highlighted point. Doubles give four moves, and you must use both dice whenever possible.
Long nardy: checkers start on the head and move counter-clockwise; there is no hitting. One checker per turn may leave the head (two on a first-roll double 6-6, 4-4 or 3-3). You cannot build six points in a row unless an enemy checker is ahead. Once all 15 are home, bear them off; if the opponent has borne off none, it is a mars worth 2 points.
Short (backgammon): you cannot land on a point held by two enemy checkers, but a lone checker can be hit — it goes to the bar and must re-enter in the enemy home first. Mars scores 2, kox scores 3.
Controls: click on desktop or tap on a phone; tap the dice to roll. Hint and Undo are at the top of the screen.
